This quilt is my third effort at eliminating everything I found unsatisfactory in the original procedure. Starting from the center, I designed and stitched one segment of the pie-wedge at a time, put all twelve up on the wall in a circle, and decided what to do for the next segment. Truly a design-as-you-go project!

A controlled explosion of color made from a large-scale parrot print from Alexander Henry. The fabric had so many different colors that some were corralled into a second, smaller quilt.
